Kazakhstan National Team to Compete at the Asian U23 Athletics Championships

From July 9 to 12, 2026, the Asian U23 Athletics Championships will take place in Ordos, China. A total of 21 athletes will represent Kazakhstan at the continental championships. Kazakh athletes will compete in middle-distance running, hurdles, sprint events, relay races, jumping events, race walking, and the heptathlon. The Kazakhstan Athletics Federation wishes the national team every success at the championships! East Kazakhstan Athletes Claim Medals at the Kosanov Memorial in Shymkent

From 30 June to 1 July, the 35th Gusman Kosanov Memorial Athletics Meeting was held in Shymkent. Athletes from twelve countries took part in the competition: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Armenia, Ukraine, and Egypt. Among the participants were athletes representing the East Kazakhstan Region, who delivered strong performances on the track and in the field events. Yefim Tarasov won the men’s 400 metres with a time of 47.43 seconds. In the same event, Elnor Mukhitdinov claimed the bronze medal in 47.52 seconds. In the men’s 1,500 metres, Igor Khrunin finished third with a time of 3:48.03. In the shot put, Ivan Ivanov earned the bronze medal with a throw of 18.67 metres. The 4×100 metres relay team of Ivan Teterin, Almat Tulebayev, Damir Sutzhanov, and Ruslan Kurmanaliyev finished second in 41.38 seconds. Another Kazakh quartet consisting of Zakhar Levitskiy, Aleksandr Bezrukov, Yerasyl Murzamukhambetov, and Maksim Mironov placed third with a time of 41.92 seconds. In the women’s events, Arina Gladysheva took third place in the 5,000 metres with a time of 17:42.91, while Anastasiya Rypakova finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.91 metres.
Results on Day One of the 35th Gussman Kosanov Memorial

The XXXV Gusman Kosanov Memorial has officially opened in Shymkent, and on the very first day athletes from East Kazakhstan Region added six medals to the team’s tally. In the men’s 400 metres, two East Kazakhstan athletes reached the podium. Yefim Tarasov claimed the gold medal with a time of 47.43 seconds, while Elnor Mukhitdinov took bronze in 47.52. In the women’s long jump, Anastasia Rypakova won the silver medal with a leap of 5.91 metres. In the men’s 4×100-metre relay, Ivan Teterin competed as a member of Kazakhstan’s first national team. Together with his teammates, he finished second in 41.38 seconds. Yerasyl Murzamukhametov finished third as part of the 4×100 m relay team.- In the men’s shot put, Ivan Ivanov secured the bronze medal with a throw of 18.67 metres. Igor Khrunin also earned a bronze medal in the men’s 1,500 metres, finishing in 3:48.03. In addition, he achieved the qualifying standard for the title of Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, marking an important personal milestone. East Kazakhstan U18 Team Congratulated on Successful Performance

Today, a ceremonial welcome was held at the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Youth Sports School for the East Kazakhstan athletics team, who returned from Shymkent after competing in the Republic of Kazakhstan Athletics Championships for boys and girls born in 2009–2010 (U18). We sincerely congratulate the team on their successful performance and wish them new sporting achievements, brilliant victories, and outstanding results!

Athletes from the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Youth Sports School (EKR SDYUSHOR) represented their region with distinction, winning medals on each of the three competition days. Day 1 The East Kazakhstan team made a strong start to the championships. Roman Verchenko won the shot put title with a mark of 15.23 m. Darya Potocheskaya claimed gold in the 400 m with a time of 57.84 seconds, while the East Kazakhstan women’s 4×100 m relay team took first place in 49.78 seconds. The men’s 4×100 m relay team earned bronze in 44.04 seconds. Silver medals were won by Daniil Mironenko in the 100 m (11.10 seconds) and Darya Sitnikova in the girls’ 100 m (12.67 seconds). Bronze medals went to Timur Zhanassov (400 m — 51.91 seconds), Platon Kruglov (pole vault — 3.70 m), Amina Zhainakova (100 m — 12.68 seconds), and Zukhra Karimova (high jump — 1.60 m). Day 2 The second day was highlighted by the high jump competition. Ramazan Bakytzhanov won gold with a clearance of 1.95 m, while Nurtas Rakhimzhanov took silver after clearing 1.90 m. Bronze medals were claimed by the mixed 4×100 m relay team of Lyubima Belousova, Amina Zhainakova, Daniil Mironenko and Darya Sitnikova (46.64 seconds), Darya Sitnikova in the 200 m (25.98 seconds), and Yana Khairutdinova in the long jump (5.50 m). Day 3 The final day of competition brought three more medals. Darya Potocheskaya once again stood on the top step of the podium, winning the 800 m in 2:17.82 and completing a championship double. The East Kazakhstan women’s team of Amina Zhainakova, Darya Sitnikova, Nadiya Kerimova, Darya Potocheskaya and Yasmina Tusupova won silver in the 100+200+300+400 m relay with a time of 2:17.50. Yasmina Tusupova earned the bronze medal in the 400 m hurdles, finishing in 1:06.85. The championships once again demonstrated the high level of preparation of East Kazakhstan’s young athletes.

Three Golds, Two Silvers and Five Bronzes: EKR Team’s Results on Day One of the СhRK U18

The Republic of Kazakhstan U18 Athletics Championships for boys and girls born in 2009–2010 have started in Shymkent. The competition is being held from June 24 to 26. Following the first day of competition, Darya Potocheskaya won the gold medal in the women’s 400 meters (57.84), Roman Verchenko claimed victory in the men’s shot put (15.23 m), and the East Kazakhstan Region women’s team won the 4×100-meter relay in 49.78 seconds. Silver medals in the 100 meters were won by Darya Sitnikova (12.67) and Daniil Mironenko (11.10). Bronze medalists included Amina Zhaynakova (100 m), Timur Zhanasov (400 m), Platon Kruglov (pole vault), Zukhra Karimova (high jump), and the East Kazakhstan Region men’s team in the 4×100-meter relay.
