Olga Rypakova: “We tried a longer run-up for the first time”

– What slightly hindered us was the unexpected delay during the flight, – says the Olympic champion. – We had to spend 12 hours in Hong Kong due to bad weather. The overall result is quite normal for the start of the season. For example, in an Olympic year I started with 14.31 m. The Shanghai event was almost like an Olympic final – all three medalists were in the same sector, so there was some nervousness. – It drew attention that the results of different attempts varied greatly. What caused such differences? – For the first time in this competition, we tried a longer run-up. In some attempts, I didn’t hit the tempo or speed properly, hence the different results. Also, the judges measured the result even when I just ran through the sand pit without completing the jump. – How much attention will you give to the Diamond League this season? – This start was also preparation for the main event of the season – the World Championships. We plan to participate in only one more stage right before the World Championships. In addition, I will compete at the Spartakiad of the Peoples of Kazakhstan in mid-June. Source: vksport.kz
