Open House 2015

On April 30, 2015, an “Open House” event was held at the Olga Rypakova Athletics Centre. A grand festive concert was organized in honor of the upcoming Kazakhstan People’s Unity Day. Children’s dance groups performed traditional dances representing various peoples and nationalities.

Festival of Childhood

On June 1, Ust-Kamenogorsk celebrated International Children’s Day. The city authorities organized a grand celebration for children near the new drama theatre. Animators entertained the kids with various contests, followed by a concert featuring dombra players and dance ensembles. Afterwards, all the children were invited into the new theatre to watch a production of “Little Muck.” Coaches from the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve (SDYUSSHOR) for Athletics held the now-traditional “Funny Starts” competition. The children navigated ball relays, hurdles, and other obstacles with great sporting enthusiasm. At the end, all participants received commemorative gifts.

A Marathon for the Little Ones

The participants included 70 children aged 5-6, consisting of primary school students and children from kindergartens and mini-centers. Each group prepared a short folk dance: the children showcased the various ethnicities living in Kazakhstan and around the world, illustrating their mutual friendship. The marathon showcased the cultures of 18 different nations from around the world. Additionally, the children enjoyed a dance warm-up, an “Imitation” game where they mimicked various animals, and, of course, an “Awarding” ceremony. Each participant received a plush toy as a gift from the City Education Department. The dance marathon, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, not only introduced the audience and participants to diverse cultures but also demonstrated how the Assembly, through its long journey of development, has fostered the cohesion and unity of all ethnic groups.

Under the motto “Cleanliness is the key to health,” the sports school employees worked together to clear the streets of dry grass, branches, leaves, and debris accumulated over the winter. Enhancing the city’s appearance for the upcoming May holidays, everyone worked with great enthusiasm and in high spirits.

Rypakova Heads to Training Camp

Rypakova conducted her first training sessions as part of the training camp on April 1, under the guidance of her father and coach, Sergey Alekseyev. “During the camp, the focus will be on refining the technical elements of the jump,” Olga’s husband and coach, Denis Rypakov, who currently remains in Ust-Kamenogorsk, told our correspondent. “Olga will have her first start of the season in Shanghai on May 17, as part of the first stage of the Diamond League. We shouldn’t expect a major result there, but this start will provide information on how to structure her preparation for future competitions.” In addition to this event, Olga will compete in the Kazakhstan Spartakiad in Almaty in early July and, of course, the World Championships in China in August of this year.
