The Athletics Federation of the East Kazakhstan Region, the staff of the Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve, coaches, and athletes express their deepest condolences to the family and friends on the passing of coach Viktor Stepanovich Chernyshev. His dedication to sports and his role in mentoring young athletes will always be remembered by his colleagues and students. Rest in peace.
Promoting an Inclusive Society

As part of the pilot project “Promoting an Inclusive Society for Children with Intellectual Disabilities in East Kazakhstan Region,” implemented by UNICEF and Special Olympics, sports and wellness events were held in Ust‑Kamenogorsk on March 13–14, 2015. Approximately 100 children from Ust‑Kamenogorsk, Zyryanovsk, Semey, Ridder, Karaganda, Aktau, Almaty, Balkhash, Serebryansk, and Ayagoz participated. The event featured athletics competitions between children with intellectual disabilities and a “Unified Sports” relay, where children with and without intellectual disabilities competed together. All events took place at the Olga Rypakova Athletics Arena. The program began with an opening ceremony attended by: Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports E. Chikenov; Head of the Employment and Social Programs Coordination Department Aizhan Sadikova; Director of the Healthy Lifestyle Center Tatyana Ermolaeva; UNICEF project coordinator in East Kazakhstan Ardak Sailaubayeva; and Olympic champion Olga Rypakova. Nine media outlets, including regional television, were present. Representatives from government bodies and Olga Rypakova delivered welcoming speeches, encouraging the participants to pursue their sporting goals. Following the speeches, the Kazakh national anthem was performed and the Special Olympics flag was raised. The children recited the athlete’s oath. A special highlight was a cheerleading performance by students from School-Gymnasium No. 38, who brightened the event for everyone. Following the ceremony, the athletics competitions began, alongside the “Healthy Athlete” program, which featured two components: “Healthy Eyes” and “Healthy Lifestyle.” The “Healthy Eyes” program was delivered in partnership with the East Kazakhstan Mother and Child Center, which provided ophthalmologist Dr. Zarina Adilbekova and necessary medical equipment. Athletes diagnosed with vision issues received treatment recommendations and eyeglass frames. The “Healthy Lifestyle” program was supported by the East Kazakhstan Healthy Lifestyle Center, which provided specialists and informational materials. After examinations, each athlete received healthy living brochures and fruit. Student volunteers from the Ust‑Kamenogorsk Medical College actively supported the screenings. During lunch, all participants received a hot meal provided by Pizza Blues LLP, which sponsored meals for 100 people. After lunch, the “Unified Sports” relay resumed. The event concluded with an awards ceremony, honoring every athlete for their achievements. The organizers expressed their gratitude to Denis Rypakov, director of the athletics arena, for providing the facilities for the project. Thanks were also extended to: the entire athletics arena staff; Denis Rypakov; Tatyana Ermolaeva, director of the Healthy Lifestyle Center; Raya Rahimova, director of the Mother and Child Center; Zinaida Kichigina, director of School‑Gymnasium No. 38; Vadim Ovsyannikov, head of the East Kazakhstan Health Department; Alexander Afonin, director of Pizza Blues LLP; Adlet Akhmadiyev, director of Ust‑Kamenogorsk Medical College; and the volunteers who, for the third year, have been dedicated to supporting children with intellectual disabilities. On March 18, 2015, the “Young Athlete” program event took place at the Olga Rypakova Athletics Arena. Thirty‑four children participated. Volunteers from Group 14‑111sr of the East Kazakhstan College of Management and Technology greatly contributed to the program. Held ahead of Kazakhstan’s national holiday, the sports festivities included development games with national flair. To build coordination and speed, children played roles as horses and jockeys in pairs. In the next phase, children participated in bouncing‑ball races. To promote mobility, agility, and aim, a bowling activity was introduced. A highlight of the celebration was a cultural dance performance by the student volunteers, who shared a traditional Kazakh dance with the children, resulting in much joy and participation. The arena’s management delighted the children by flying a model plane inside the dome, performing aerobatic maneuvers to the children’s delight. The sports celebration continued with a relay race. In conclusion, children, volunteers, and social workers engaged in a friendly tug‑of‑war—indeed, friendship won! As always, the event’s most touching moment was the distribution of participation gifts. Each child received an individual prize. The children’s joy, laughter, and smiles were the primary goals of this event!

Athletes with special needs

The strongest athletes with special needs are identified in jumping and running disciplines. The age of the participants is very different – the oldest of the athletes has already turned 38 years old! The Special Olympics program has been operating in Kazakhstan for 25 years. Under its auspices, the public association of the same name has already gathered more than 18,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities. The project has been implemented in East Kazakhstan Region since 2013. The main centers for the development of sports among people with intellectual disabilities are Ust–Kamenogorsk, Semey, Ayagoz and the village of Kalbatau. Even Olympic Champion Olga Rypakova took part in the opening of the competition. By the way, the arena bearing the name of our triple jump prima has been home to athletes under the Special Olympics program for almost a year now. It is not surprising that the current competitions are held here. In addition to the competitive stage, the program includes screening of athletes in two clinical disciplines: “Healthy lifestyle” and “Healthy eyes”. The competition will continue on March 13-14. Athletes of East Kazakhstan Region honored the memory of the Olympic medalist

2. Results of the Indoor Athletics Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan

A new record from Mikhail Litvin!

A new record from Mikhail Litvin! Back in the morning session of the first competition day, Litvin from North Kazakhstan Region set a record for Kazakhstan in the 400 m. But this did not seem enough for the 19-year-old guy. In the final run of the evening session, he also broke his morning record! For the first time in the history of our indoor athletics, an athlete was able to run 400 m in less than 47 seconds! Mikhail “took off” 0.22 seconds from his morning record! This, my friends, is phenomenal! Especially when you consider that Litvin has been involved in athletics for only 3 years, and before that he played football. Over the past two weeks, Litvin has managed to set four Kazakh records in this discipline at once. Why did the guy “burst” in Ust-Kamenogorsk? – Because the conditions here are better than in any arena in Kazakhstan, – the main character of the first competitive day of the Championship answers this question. – There are just beautiful turns here, the first track, it is very convenient to run along it. I will still try to become stronger, win and please the fans. Now I’m going to try to break the junior record of Kazakhstan at outdoor stadiums in Almaty in May. Impressed by such a serious success of a very young guy, the leadership of the Athletics Federation of the East Kazakhstan region, represented by Denis Rypakov, decided to reward Litvin with a cash prize of 50,000 tenge. 400 m running. Men (22 participants): 1. Mikhail Litvin (SKO) – 46.87s (KAZAKHSTAN RECORD) 2. Igor Kondratiev (Pavlodar region) – 47.75 s 3. Dmitry Korabeynikov (Astana) – 47.94 s ..15. Pavel KUKIN (East Kazakhstan Region) – 52.32 s 16. Vladislav SUTYAGIN (East Kazakhstan region) – 52.44 s 17. Bogdan VESELSKY (East KAZAKHSTAN region) – 52.56 s ..19. Sergey UNZHAKOV (East Kazakhstan Region) – 53.08 s A source: vksport.kz
Olga Rypakova is calling for reinforcements!

– Do you remember the last time you competed in Ust-Kamenogorsk at any competitions? – It was a long, long time ago. These are certainly not “Musketeers. Twenty years later,” but… I was about seventeen years old, the competitions were then held in the Olympian module. These were city or regional competitions. – The last time you combined two types of jumps, you managed to win the World Cup in the Croatian Split in the triple jump and win a bronze medal on the “length”. What caused the decision to practice these disciplines at the national level? – These competitions are more like a control training for me.- check the result of our preparation for the summer season. We are checking the method that we have chosen. We haven’t changed anything radically, but there are small nuances that we have changed. Two distances are an indication from the coach to see the speed qualities and technical performance. The task of showing a very high result here and now is not in front of me. – What result will suit you here? – I think the result for 14 meters will suit me. The preparation was not purposefully for the triple jump – we had only been on the run for a week and a half. There has never been such a number of training sessions after which you can show very far jumps right now. – Your strongest competitor is Irina Ektova. How tough will the competition be on her part at the upcoming championship? – I do not know what form the Ira is in now, and what goals it pursues. Perhaps this is also a passing start for her. In addition, you can go to competitions under load, after a lot of work. Or maybe not. It is very difficult to say. Besides, I’m not in the best shape right now, and it’s hardly worth waiting for jumps over 14.3 m. But what will be for sure is an interesting competition, to which, taking this opportunity, I would like to invite all Ustkamenogorets and guests of the city. – For the first time in a very long time, a whole troop of relatives, friends and other personal fans will come to cheer for you. Is there some moment of excitement present? – Of course! Many will come to cheer for me personally for the first time! This is very important and exciting for me. I want to meet their expectations and please them with a successful performance and a beautiful start. Besides, there will be an interesting fight not only in jumping. I’m looking forward to the 400m and 800m races, hurdles, men’s high jump, men’s shot put are always interesting. In general, it’s worth taking the time to watch all the competitions from the beginning to the end! – And what else can make an Olympic Champion worry? – Yes, anything (laughs)! In any case, I will be worried, because this is the first start of the season, especially after a long break. Secondly, these are the fans who may come to watch me specifically. especially when you perform at home, it’s always exciting. – Especially after a 13-year break? – Yes, native walls, they say they help, but they also make you worry twice as much. – You have been in Ust-Kamenogorsk for quite a long time. In your opinion, what is the state of athletics in our city, and East Kazakhstan region as a whole? – This sport has started to feel better. With the advent of a real home for athletics, which became the athletics arena, hopes for the best appeared. We adults also train here, and a very large number of small children come. The results, of course, are growing. With the advent of this arena, athletics in East Kazakhstan Region will begin to progress much more. Of course, we have won prizes in the team competition at the republic level before. But in two or three years we will claim the first place. Now is just the starting point. – How much is your current form comparable to the one when you showed results in 15 m? – If we take the result at 15 m and beyond for 100%, then now … 50 percent. – In that case, when should we expect 100% readiness? – We will bring the peak of our form to the World Cup, which will be held in August in Beijing. – Beijing. This city is remembered for your performance at the Olympics, when you managed to jump 15.10 m, but you did not climb the podium, was it probably terribly insulting then? – No, for some reason it wasn’t offensive at all. At that time, I did not expect that I would even get into the top six! I did not expect the final result with the fourth place in any way. At that time, I had been doing triple jumping for only one year, and it was very difficult to count on such a result. There were such people there, and they had a very serious fight among themselves, and I managed to get into it. I was just shocked at the time! I just couldn’t think of any place at that moment. I was so delighted just from the fact that I can jump over 15 m, and not just one random jump, but a whole series! Emotions were just off the scale. Then six people jumped 15 meters at once, and it was something impossible! This has never happened again. – You had a chance to get to the Olympics in Athens. What discipline were you planning to perform in then? – I was going to fulfill the standard in the long jump, get a license. I was doing well then – already in the winter season I showed 6.5 m. In this discipline, I might not even get into the main competitions, judging by the world results. I was just starting
The Kazakhstan Youth Athletics Championship and “International competitions for the prizes of Olympic champion Olga Rypakova

For girls in the national championship among athletes under 23, everything was decided in a matter of fractions of a second – the first place was separated from the third by only 0.02 seconds! Rima Kashafutdinova from Karaganda won in such a super competition. The advantage of Temirlan Suleimenov over Vitaly Zems was the same.
