First Day of the Kazakhstan Championships in Shymkent: Results of the East Kazakhstan Region Team The Republic of Kazakhstan Athletics Championships among U16 boys and girls, as well as U23 athletes, have started in Shymkent. On the first day of competition, athletes from the East Kazakhstan Region won prize places in sprint events, the 1500 m middle-distance race, jumping events, throws, and relay races. The athletes still have two more days of competition ahead. Elizaveta Matveeva wins bronze at the Asian Championships in Chongqing

Kazakhstani athlete Elizaveta Matveeva claimed a bronze medal at the Asian Athletics Jumping Championships taking place in Chongqing. The tournament has become the first continental jumping championship in the history of Asian athletics. In the women’s high jump event, Matveeva cleared 1.80 m, earning a place on the podium and bringing Kazakhstan one of its first medals of the competition. Another representative of Kazakhstan, Nadezhda Dubovitskaya, finished ninth with a result of 1.75 m. From May 19 to 21, the Republic of Kazakhstan Athletics Championship among athletes of the U16 and U20 age categories will take place in Shymkent.   The team of the KSU “East Kazakhstan Specialized Youth Sports School” has departed for the Republic of Kazakhstan Athletics Championship for the U16 and U23 age categories, which will be held in Shymkent from May 19 to 22, 2025. Athletes born in 2010–2011 will compete in the U16 category, while athletes born in 2003–2005 will compete in the U23 category. The Open Cross-Country Championship was held in the settlement of Glubokoye.

On May 15–16, 2026, the Open Cross-Country Championship of the KSU “Youth Sports School of Glubokoye District” of the Physical Culture and Sports Department of East Kazakhstan Region was held in the settlement of Glubokoye among boys and girls born in 2013–2014, 2015–2016, and 2017 and younger. The competition took place on the cross-country track of the Youth Sports School located near the village beach in Glubokoye. The competition program included the following distances:• 1000 m — for participants born in 2013–2014;• 600 m — for participants born in 2015–2016;• 300 m — for athletes born in 2017 and younger. Teams from cities, districts, and settlements of the East Kazakhstan Region took part in the competition. The team of the KSU “East Kazakhstan Regional Youth Sports School” participated in the event and showed strong results. EKR Specialized Youth Sports School Athletics Championship Dedicated to Victory Day

On May 8, the Championship of the KSU “East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Youth Sports School for Athletics,” dedicated to Victory Day, took place at the Olga Rypakova Athletics Center and Altai Stadium. Athletes competed in the following age categories: born in 2003 and older, 2004–2006 (U23), 2009–2010 (U18), 2011–2012 (U16), and younger. Running events were held at Altai Stadium. Athletes competed in hurdle races, sprint events, 400 m, 800 m, and 5000 m races, as well as the women’s and men’s 200 m finals. Technical disciplines and throwing events took place at the Olga Rypakova Athletics Center. Participants demonstrated their skills in javelin, discus, and hammer throw, as well as triple jump, long jump, high jump, and shot put. The “Kids Athletics” final was held at the Olga Rypakova Athletics Center.

On May 6th, the Olga Rypakova Athletics Center (part of the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Children and Youth School of the Olympic Reserve) hosted the final of the “Kids Athletics” international program in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day. The young athletes demonstrated both excellent physical training and outstanding team spirit.
