Olga Rypakova, the London Olympic champion in the triple jump, emerged victorious at the sixth stage of the Diamond League held in Birmingham, UK, reports Vesti.kz.
In her final attempt, Rypakova managed to snatch the win from the main favorite, Caterine Ibargüen of Colombia. The Kazakhstani athlete jumped 14.61 meters, while the Colombian, who held a mark of 14.56 meters, was unable to improve her score. Third place went to Ukraine’s Olha Saladukha, with a best jump of 14.40 meters.
Notably, this result equaled Rypakova’s personal best of the season. Furthermore, the Kazakhstani athlete became the first person to defeat Ibargüen in four years.
