The preliminary heats for the women’s 400-meter sprint took place at the 2016 Games. Kazakhstan was represented by two athletes in this discipline. In the seventh heat, Elina Mikhina finished in sixth (penultimate) place with a time of 53.83 seconds. In the eighth heat, Anastasia Kudinova crossed the finish line in 56.03 seconds, recording the slowest time in her group. Earlier, three other female athletes representing Kazakhstan in the 100-meter sprint were also eliminated from the competition.
