Olga Rypakova

The Most Decorated Athlete

The Most Decorated Athlete Admittedly, when it comes to the title of the most decorated representative of track and field athletics, the competition is not very large. Only three athletes have managed to win Olympic medals: Olga Rypakova (2012 and 2016), Olga Shishigina (100m hurdles, 2000), and Dmitriy Karpov (decathlon, 2004). Prior to Olga Rypakova’s bronze medal in Rio de Janeiro, our compatriot was neck-and-neck in an informal rivalry with the other Olga — Shishigina. Both held one Olympic gold medal, were World Indoor Champions, each had one silver and one bronze medal from the World Championships, and both had even earned a vice-champion title at the World Indoor Championships. Overall, the record was perfectly even. Rypakova’s slight advantage lay only in her overall victory in the 2012 Diamond League. Now, following the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro — where, as we won’t tire of reminding, Rypakova won the bronze medal — the Ust-Kamenogorsk native has gained an additional trump card, making her the most decorated track and field athlete in the history of Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, it will be a long time before our country produces another athlete of this caliber. Therefore, Rypakova’s record is likely to stand for many years to come. Olga Rypakova won the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics

Kazakhstan’s Olga Rypakova won the bronze medal in the triple jump at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Vesti.kz reports. Rypakova led after the first attempt, but later moved down to second, and then eventually to third place. In her best attempt, she recorded a mark of 14.74 meters. It is worth noting that at these Olympics, Rypakova achieved her personal season’s best. Caterine Ibargüen from Colombia became the champion with a jump of 15.17 meters. The silver medal went to Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela with 14.98 meters. The new Olympic champion also recorded her season’s best result. Notably, four years ago in London, Rypakova became the Olympic champion. The bronze in Rio marks the second Olympic medal of her career. Source: vesti.kz

I am very happy with this medal,” said Olga Rypakova.

“I hope I didn’t disappoint the people of Kazakhstan. I am very happy with this medal,” said Olga Rypakova. Kazakhstani track and field athlete Olga Rypakova shared her impressions after winning the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics, Vesti.kz reports. In the triple jump, Rypakova achieved her season’s best result — 14.74 meters. Caterine Ibargüen from Colombia became the champion (15.17), while Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela took the silver (14.98). — Share your impressions of such a challenging start. — Of course, I am very happy to have the bronze medal because the competition was very tough and the rivals were strong. Behind me are four very difficult years of preparation. I am glad that I have a bronze medal now. My emotions are mixed: a bit of disappointment that I didn’t show very long jumps, but at the same time, I am satisfied with the medal, — said Rypakova. — It seemed like there was some discomfort — psychological or physical — after the second attempt. — Yes, there was discomfort in my run-up. It just wasn’t working for me. The jumps felt uncomfortable. But that’s still ahead — my coach and I will discuss, analyze, and work on the mistakes. I gave everything I was ready for today. I hope I didn’t disappoint the people of Kazakhstan. I am very happy with this medal. Thank you to all the fans in Kazakhstan who supported me. I received so many messages. Thank you everyone. — These are your official results. Have you jumped over 15 meters during training? — Never. I don’t show long jumps in training because there is no competitive atmosphere there. I have never had attempts beyond 14.40-14.50. All my best results happen only at competitions. — What do you think about the results of your rivals — the young Rojas and your old acquaintance Ibargüen? — These are very good results. The girls are very talented and in great shape. I think Rojas will show even longer jumps in the future. She will definitely push her rivals. Of course, they were stronger today. — What did Ibargüen say after the competition ended? — It is our tradition to congratulate each other sincerely. Competition is competition, but our relationship is friendly — it’s a matter of etiquette. We congratulated each other on a job well done and exchanged impressions. It was a great tournament with great rivals. I think it was very interesting for the audience. — Are you planning to retire? After all, you have a family and two children. — Not yet. I don’t plan to. Right now, I need to rest and recover after a difficult season. Next year we have good competitions. The World Championships in London — and I love London very much! I will prepare for that. — Just like four years ago, you raised the flag of Kazakhstan, but the feelings must be different? — Of course, the feelings are a bit different — it’s one step lower. But I am very happy because the last four years were very difficult for me. Now I will stand on the podium as a mother of two. This is very important to me. The birth of my son was a great achievement for me. I think this medal can be equated to a gold one.

print Boosts EKR Polyathletes

The day was dedicated to sprint “showdowns.” Five athletes from the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR) managed to break into the top three in their respective age categories, which had a positive impact on their current standings to varying degrees. The performance in the girls’ 14-15 age category was particularly successful for our athletes, where both Anastasia Zubenko and Elizaveta Matveeva made it into the top three. They were only outpaced by the remarkable Arina Misheyeva from Aktau, who ran so fast that even some of the boys couldn’t keep up. Unfortunately, Zubenko’s second place in the sprint didn’t significantly boost her overall position. However, the same cannot be said for Matveeva—the heroine of the “Children of Asia” competition solidified her hold on second place in the overall tournament standings. Other top sprinters included Artyom Sukhorukov (14-15 years, 3rd place), Yerkin Nagmetov (40-49 years, 3rd place), and Arkady Degenbaev (over 60 years, 3rd place). The grenade and ball throwing competitions will begin on July 28 at 9:30 AM. Athletes will perform their attempts at the “Olympiets” sports complex grounds. YOUTH 60M RUN Age Category 12-13. Summer Sports and Wellness Training Camp

A group of 102 athletes and coaches from the EKR Specialized Children and Youth School of the Olympic Reserve (SCYSOR) for Athletics have departed for their annual summer sports and wellness training camp, which will last for 12 days. The camp is held at the S. Kovalev facility on the Bukhtarma Reservoir. The goal of this training session is to enhance physical fitness levels and promote recovery during the summer season.

Kusmanov, Gafner, and Kem Crowned Kazakhstan Athletics Champions

Kusmanov, Gafner, and Kem Crowned Kazakhstan Athletics Champions The most successful performance in the EKR national team came from Erika Kem. This girl can literally do it all. She secured bronze medals in two different running disciplines, finishing third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.6 seconds and in the 4x400m relay, where she was joined by Savelyeva, Kharlamova, and Nesterova. However, her “gold” came from the shot put with a throw of 10.94 meters. With three medals in total, she became the most decorated athlete among our sportswomen at this championship. Our relay runners from Ridder, Alina Savelyeva and Arina Kharlamova, each have two medals to their credit. They secured two bronze medals in two different relay events. The first was mentioned above, while the second came in the 4x800m relay. Interestingly, this relay team was entirely composed of athletes from Ridder—Savelyeva and Kharlamova were joined by Tatyana Druzhina and Moldir Seitkhanova. Druzhina also won a silver medal in the 1500m run, completing the distance in 4 minutes and 55 seconds. As expected, Artur Gafner claimed the champion title with a javelin throw of 63.2 meters. Artur has faced no real competition in his sector for quite some time. On the other hand, the triumph of Imanmadi Kusmanov from Semey in the 800m run was not as inevitable, making his victory with a time of 1:53.17 all the more valuable. Nikolai Klimenko brought “silver” to the EKR team in the discus throw, reaching 44.09 meters. Another representative of the throwing disciplines, Magzhan Zhakypbekov, finished third in the javelin throw with a mark of 47.6 meters. Alexey Gubanov Source: vksport.kz
