City Athletics Championship, December 3–4, 2016

The beginning of December proved to be bright and impressive for track and field athletes. On December 3rd and 4th, the Open Ust-Kamenogorsk Athletics Championship was held at the Olga Rypakova Arena. The total number of athletes reached a surprising figure of over 200 participants. This included not only athletes from Ust-Kamenogorsk but also representatives from Ridder, Belousovka, Glubokoye, and Shemonaikha. The primary goal of the competition was to select athletes for the upcoming EKO (East Kazakhstan) Championship, dedicated to the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will take place very soon on December 9th and 10th. The proximity of these events is expected to help athletes maintain their competitive edge and improve their sports mastery. The EKO Regional Championship will be held among juniors and adults (born 1998 and older), as well as boys/girls in the 1999–2000 and 2001–2002 age groups. Reporting and Election Conference of the Athletic Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On December 5, 2016, the Reporting and Election Conference of the Athletic Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. The Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, delivered the opening remarks. Delegates of the conference reviewed the report on the Federation’s activities during the previous Olympic cycle, followed by the election of the Federation’s leadership. Adilbek Ryskeldinovich Jaksybekov, who was serving as the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the time, was elected President of the Athletic Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Additional appointments included: First Vice-President: Eldar Rashitovich Tabanov; Vice-President: Alexey Mikhailovich Kondrat; General Secretary: Lashin Erkaraevich Aymagambetov. Kids Athletics 16

On October 21, 2016, the IAAF Kids Athletics competition took place at the “Olga Rypakova” Athletics Centre. IAAF Kids Athletics is one of the most extensive development programs in the world of track and field, having been established in 2005. The goals of the program are: To introduce children to athletics at a grassroots level; To engage and support beginners in their sports journey; To establish athletics as a popular sport within schools. IAAF Kids Athletics is designed not only for national federations but also for schools and all organizations committed to the well-being of children. Competition Format: The program features three main disciplines—running, jumping, and throwing—divided into three age groups: 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 years old. The IAAF has also developed a comprehensive training curriculum for teachers and coaches responsible for organizing IAAF Kids Athletics events.

Results of the RK Championship among Sports Schools (DYuSSH and ShIDODS) Congratulations to the East Kazakhstan Region (EKO) team for their successful performance at the Republic of Kazakhstan Athletics Championship for Specialized Sports Schools (DYuSSH) and Boarding Schools for Gifted Children in Sport (ShIDODS) for boys and girls born in 1999-2000 and 2001-2002!
