print Boosts EKR Polyathletes

The day was dedicated to sprint “showdowns.” Five athletes from the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR) managed to break into the top three in their respective age categories, which had a positive impact on their current standings to varying degrees. The performance in the girls’ 14-15 age category was particularly successful for our athletes, where both Anastasia Zubenko and Elizaveta Matveeva made it into the top three. They were only outpaced by the remarkable Arina Misheyeva from Aktau, who ran so fast that even some of the boys couldn’t keep up. Unfortunately, Zubenko’s second place in the sprint didn’t significantly boost her overall position. However, the same cannot be said for Matveeva—the heroine of the “Children of Asia” competition solidified her hold on second place in the overall tournament standings. Other top sprinters included Artyom Sukhorukov (14-15 years, 3rd place), Yerkin Nagmetov (40-49 years, 3rd place), and Arkady Degenbaev (over 60 years, 3rd place). The grenade and ball throwing competitions will begin on July 28 at 9:30 AM. Athletes will perform their attempts at the “Olympiets” sports complex grounds. YOUTH 60M RUN Age Category 12-13. Summer Sports and Wellness Training Camp

A group of 102 athletes and coaches from the EKR Specialized Children and Youth School of the Olympic Reserve (SCYSOR) for Athletics have departed for their annual summer sports and wellness training camp, which will last for 12 days. The camp is held at the S. Kovalev facility on the Bukhtarma Reservoir. The goal of this training session is to enhance physical fitness levels and promote recovery during the summer season.

Kusmanov, Gafner, and Kem Crowned Kazakhstan Athletics Champions

Kusmanov, Gafner, and Kem Crowned Kazakhstan Athletics Champions The most successful performance in the EKR national team came from Erika Kem. This girl can literally do it all. She secured bronze medals in two different running disciplines, finishing third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.6 seconds and in the 4x400m relay, where she was joined by Savelyeva, Kharlamova, and Nesterova. However, her “gold” came from the shot put with a throw of 10.94 meters. With three medals in total, she became the most decorated athlete among our sportswomen at this championship. Our relay runners from Ridder, Alina Savelyeva and Arina Kharlamova, each have two medals to their credit. They secured two bronze medals in two different relay events. The first was mentioned above, while the second came in the 4x800m relay. Interestingly, this relay team was entirely composed of athletes from Ridder—Savelyeva and Kharlamova were joined by Tatyana Druzhina and Moldir Seitkhanova. Druzhina also won a silver medal in the 1500m run, completing the distance in 4 minutes and 55 seconds. As expected, Artur Gafner claimed the champion title with a javelin throw of 63.2 meters. Artur has faced no real competition in his sector for quite some time. On the other hand, the triumph of Imanmadi Kusmanov from Semey in the 800m run was not as inevitable, making his victory with a time of 1:53.17 all the more valuable. Nikolai Klimenko brought “silver” to the EKR team in the discus throw, reaching 44.09 meters. Another representative of the throwing disciplines, Magzhan Zhakypbekov, finished third in the javelin throw with a mark of 47.6 meters. Alexey Gubanov Source: vksport.kz

Her Airness, Regina Kaisarova

The 26th International Gusman Kosanov Memorial Tournament has concluded at the Central Stadium in Almaty. On the final day of the competition, the EKR (East Kazakhstan Region) team managed to secure two more medals. Regina Kaisarova became the absolute best in the high jump, winning with a result of 1.8m, even if it wasn’t the most impressive performance. Interestingly, the athlete chose not to attempt the 1.85m height, deciding to settle for her medal. Notably, Kazakhstani athletes swept the entire podium in the high jump. The silver medal in this sector was won by the rising star from Semey, Nadezhda Dubovitskaya, who was the youngest participant in the event, while Alexandra Gulyukina rounded out the top three. 26th International Gusman Kosanov Memorial Tournament High Jump. Elina Mikhina is Heading to the Olympic Games!

The International “Kosanov Memorial” Athletics Tournament has kicked off in Almaty, featuring representatives from over 20 Asian countries. The immense popularity of this memorial is due to it being the final Asian championship providing an opportunity to meet the qualifying standards for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Elina Mikhina, a runner from Ridder, managed to “catch the last train” to Brazil. The 400m sprint is the signature event for our fellow countrywoman. It was in this race that Elina took second place at the Asian Indoor Championships earlier this year. And at the Kosanov Memorial, which can be compared to a continental championship in terms of prestige, she became the absolute strongest! However, it wasn’t the victory itself that granted the Olympic berth, but the time recorded during the race. Elina won the final with a result of 52.09 seconds, which is significantly faster than the Olympic qualifying standard. Mikhina became the third representative of EKR athletics to secure a trip to Rio. Previously, standards were met by Olga Rypakova and marathon runner Irina Smolnikova. The latter, like Mikhina, is a product of Ridder’s athletics program. It is remarkable that Ridder athletics secured two Olympic spots, especially considering the total lack of proper training facilities in this mining town. In the winter, track athletes are forced to train by running through school corridors. Another medal at the memorial was won by Evgeniy Chettykbayev from Ust-Kamenogorsk. He took second place in the triple jump. His result of 16.3m followed Roman Valiyev’s jump of 16.8m. It seems that with such a performance, Valiyev has every chance of heading to his fourth career Olympics! Third place in this discipline went to a representative from Malaysia with a mark of 16.01m. Marathon and Race Walking Championship Held in Ust-Kamenogorsk

The Kazakhstan Championship was held in the administrative center of EKR on June 11. Throughout the day, top race walkers and long-distance runners competed on the asphalt of the Slavsky Irtysh Embankment. The EKR national team, which secured second place in the overall team standings, earned two gold medals. Moldir Seitkhanova shone in the half marathon, although gold in this senior junior category was guaranteed for our team as the real battle took place between two runners from Ridder: Seitkhanova and Tatyana Druzhina. In the end, only 51 seconds separated the champion from the runner-up. 44-year-old Yuri Eger shocked everyone. The athlete from Ust-Kamenogorsk managed to take first place in the full marathon, competing against runners young enough to be his sons! It was a proud moment as the entire men’s marathon podium was occupied by EKR representatives: Amir Baitukanov (Ust-Kamenogorsk) and Eduard Vasilyev (Ridder) took second and third place, respectively. Future Olympian Irina Smolnikova from Ridder also tested her strength in the half marathon. The athletics star finished with a time of 1:22:53 — a full 8 minutes faster than the junior winners.
