“An athlete has to have character.”

The coach of the first category of the “East Kazakhstan regional specialized children’s and Youth sports school of the Olympic Reserve in athletics” of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the East Kazakhstan region, Bogdan Veselsky, told about the course of training and what is needed for an athlete. – Tell us about the progress of your training. – Now we are preparing for the winter season, the closest start is in October, the International Competitions for children under 15 in Bishkek. The main focus on training is now on athletes under the age of 15, in preparation for these competitions, and older guys after a busy season are engaged in strengthening joints and ligaments and we have temporarily reduced the amount of running work for them. – Your experience as a coach has already reached seven years. Are you considered a young coach, do you have a desire to participate in the starts? – No, there is no such desire, because at the moment of the competition we worry no less than the athletes, I would even say even more. It is important for us to monitor the implementation of the settings and analyze the mistakes of each athlete so that he improves himself with each training session and competition. – Are all conditions created for athletes and coaching staff? – Athletics has been developing very actively in our region in recent years thanks to the support of the regional leadership. All conditions have been created for high-quality sports and top results. It remains only to give the best knowledge, which, by the way, we, as coaches, receive at courses, qualification upgrades and master classes from leading experts in the world. Also, on the initiative of Danial Akhmetov, AltayAthleticsclub was created – an international professional club, which is very motivating for young athletes, they also strive to get there. – What is the optimal age to start athletics classes? – I think the most appropriate age is 8-9 years old, because the child is already more resistant to stress and understands what he wants to do. – What qualities should a track and field athlete have? – One of the main qualities of an athlete is patience. He has to do a lot of work to get results. A track and field athlete must have character. And, of course, physical data must be present. – What does athletics give you? – First of all, it shapes a person, not only in sports, but also in life. We raise children not only in the sports arena, but also outside it. Sets an example of a healthy lifestyle, strengthens the spirit, develops willpower and teaches you to achieve your goals. Also, the Champion of the Republic of Kazakhstan and participant of the Asian Junior Championship Ekaterina Efremova shared her plans for the future. – How long have you been involved in athletics? – Soon it will be exactly two years since I came to this sport. – What is your favorite part of the training process? – My favorite part is overcoming barriers. I think that in the future I will go in this direction. In general, the whole training process is interesting, each athlete has an individual approach and different loads, which gives a good result. – They say “sport educates”. How has athletics changed you? – Every time we overcome ourselves and certain difficulties. Sport has taught me to be patient. – What’s your main motivation? – Coach, because the thought of how much energy and emotion he has put into you encourages you to conquer the distances. And that cherished shout “Come on!” before the start is a very good motivation. – What are your future plans? – There are certain goals that we will achieve. The nearest start in winter is the RK Championship, for which we have already started gradual preparation. Author Kamila Botagamitova Photo by the author Source : vksport.kz
