Open Athletics Championship to Be Held in Ust-Kamenogorsk On March 7, 2026, the Athletics Center named after Olga Rypakova in Ust-Kamenogorsk will host the Open Championship of the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve for Athletics among boys and girls of younger age groups. The tournament will involve boys and girls born in 2013–2014, 2015–2016, and 2017 and younger. The competition will be held in an individual format. Athletes with medical clearance are allowed to participate. Young athletes will compete in the 50 m, 50 m hurdles, 200 m, 600 m races, and in the long jump. Women of the East Kazakhstan Athletics Sports School Congratulated on the Upcoming International Women’s Day

On March 6, a ceremonial meeting was held at the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve for Athletics, where the staff congratulated the female members of the team on the upcoming International Women’s Day. Warm words of gratitude were expressed to the women for their work, their contribution to the development of athletics, and their role in educating young athletes. At the end of the event, the women of the team were presented with commemorative gifts and wished good health, happiness, and new professional achievements.
The final competitions of the winter season, the Republic of Kazakhstan Championships among Youth (U23) and among Younger Boys and Girls (U16), took place in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

The final competitions of the winter season, the Republic of Kazakhstan Championships among Youth (U23) and among Younger Boys and Girls (U16), took place in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The competitions were held at the Olga Rypakova Athletics Center. Below are the results of the winners and prize-winners of the East Kazakhstan region team. Youth Championship (U23) Ivan Teterin won the 200 meters distance with a time of 21.90. Konstantin Uteshev became first in shot put (15.91). The men’s 4×400 meters relay also brought a gold medal — 3:26.54. Ruslan Lomtev (high jump, 2.00) and Yerassyl Murzamukhambetov (60 m hurdles, 8.32) won silver medals. Bronze medalists were Ramazan Bakytzhanov (high jump, 1.95), Platon Kruglov (pole vault, 3.90) and the men’s team in the mixed 4×400 meters relay. In the women’s jumping events, Anastasia Rypakova took first place in long jump with 6.07. Faina Meirmanova (1.80) won the high jump. Arina Gladysheva finished second in the 3000 meters (10:12.84) and third in the 1500 meters (4:41.18). Daria Pototskaya took second place in the 800 meters (2:11.91) and third in the 400 meters (57.12). Silver awards also went to the women’s 4×400 meters relay — 3:57.37. Bronze medals were received by Daria Pavlenko (60 m hurdles, 8.91), Sofiya Kidenko (200 meters, 24.94) and Kristina Zakharchenko (pentathlon, 2758 points). In addition to the performances of the EKR team, new records were set at the tournament in the 200 meters. Maria Shuvalova (Pavlodar region) updated the Kazakhstan record among youth (U23) — 24.34, and Margarita Kosinova (Almaty) set a record among athletes under 18 (U18) — 24.88. Both results were shown on February 27, 2026. Junior Championship (U16, born 2011–2012) In the younger age category, Mukhamed Goibov took second place in the 60 meters run with a time of 7.47. Among girls, two gold medals were won by representatives of EKR. Yana Khairutdinova won the pentathlon (2981 points), Zukhra Karimova became first in the high jump (1.60). In the relays, the EKR team took second place in the 4×200 meters run. In the women’s 4×400 meters relay, the girls finished third — 4:16.32. The Akim of EKR, Nurymbet Saktaganov, presented an apartment to Deaflympic Games champion Faina Meirmanova.

In a ceremonial setting, the Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region, Nurymbet Saktaganov, congratulated Faina Meirmanova on her triumphant performance at the XXV Summer Deaflympic Games in Tokyo. In recognition of her outstanding achievements and historic record, the regional head presented the champion with the keys to a new apartment. Faina Meirmanova inscribed her name in the history of world sports by winning the gold medal in the high jump. Achieving a result of 1.79 meters, she not only confidently took first place but also set a new Deaflympic Games record. This victory became a vivid testament to the high level of sports development in East Kazakhstan and a significant contribution to the success of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Behind this achievement lie years of hard work, iron will, and determination of the athlete, as well as the professionalism of her coaching staff. Faina’s success holds strategic importance for the promotion of the Deaflympic movement and the strengthening of an inclusive society. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the Kazakhstan Indoor Athletics Championship for athletes with hearing impairments aged 12–15 took place on February 21–22, 2026. The event was held at the athletics center named after Olga Rypakova. More than 60 young athletes from various regions of the country took part in the competition. Over the course of two days, participants competed for medals in running, jumping, and throwing events, demonstrating a high level of preparation and athletic performance. The competition program included races over 60, 200, 400, 800, and 1500 meters, as well as 4×200 m and 4×400 m relays. In addition, athletes competed in technical disciplines such as the high jump, long jump, triple jump, and shot put. The first day of competition opened with the 1500 m finals, followed by preliminary and final races in the 60 m event, along with field events including shot put and high jump. In the afternoon session, medals were contested in the 400 m, triple jump, and relay events. On the second day, athletes determined the strongest competitors in the 800 m and 200 m races, as well as in the long jump and the final 4×400 m relays. The event concluded with an official awards ceremony honoring the winners and prizewinners. The championship marked an important step in the development of adaptive sports in Kazakhstan, contributing not only to improving athletic performance but also to the social inclusion and support of young athletes with hearing impairments.

In Ust-Kamenogorsk, two major events from the Kazakhstan athletics calendar took place simultaneously — the Kazakhstan Indoor Championships among juniors (U20) and youth (U18). Athletes from the East Kazakhstan Region won a number of medals in various disciplines. U20 (juniors, born 2007–2008) Among the girls, Sofya Kidenko delivered an outstanding performance, winning gold in the 200 meters (25.19) and also taking first place in the 60 meters (7.89). First start – first record

The very first medal event of the opening day of the Kazakhstan Championships among juniors and older youth concluded with a historic achievement — a new national record was set in the women’s junior 5000 m race walk, and the qualification standard for the World Junior Championships was also achieved. The first national record in the обновлённый Olga Rypakova Indoor Arena was set by Almaty race walker Margarita Storozhenko. The athlete from the southern capital covered the distance in an impressive 23:52.48, significantly surpassing last year’s national record set at the same venue by her teammate and fellow Almaty athlete Sabrina Arziyeva.
