Ust-Kamenogorsk Cross Country Championship

The regional center’s cross-country championship, however, was such only nominally, because cross-country is held only on the street. And what to do when it is impossible to give a start in the fresh air, the correspondent found out 1720.kz . Ust-Kamenogorsk track and field athletes are not lucky for the weather this autumn. A week ago, the regional center’s cross-country championship was supposed to take place, but due to heavy rain, the competition was postponed to today. However, even now the event was in danger of disruption – a strong cold wind did not allow the competition to be held outside. There was nothing else to do but to run a cross-country race on the treadmills of the O. Rypakova Athletics Center. So only about three or four dozen athletes competed for medals and certificates of the championship. All the bravest and most frost-resistant athletes were divided into five age categories, in each of which athletes had to overcome different distances from 500 to 2000 m. The youngest girls were won by Tatyana Nikolenko, who is also famous for her performances on tennis courts. Tatiana won as much as 7 seconds from her closest competitor! The competition was even higher among the younger boys. Champion Duman Kenzhebekov and silver medalist Mirat Yerboluly were separated by only four seconds. In the age category up to 13 years old, the girls’ race was held according to the classic scheme – Kristina Kharitonova was in the lead for almost the entire distance, and on the last lap Elizaveta Matveeva made the finishing leap, who became the champion. The guys in this age group were much less calculating. Having already rushed from the start clearly to the world record, not everyone kept up the set pace, leaving the treadmills. Amir Ayymkanov, who finished with the best time, turned out to be the most resilient of the others. The most insulting defeat today was suffered by Sayat Asylkhanov in the age category of 14-15 years.. The entire 1000 m distance he “dragged” the entire group of runners on himself, but at the finish line, the more experienced Georgy Ermolov ran out from behind him, and “brought” the recent leader a second behind. The girls in this category had only three participants, and considering that one of them was Arina Saifullina, the intrigue died here before she was born. As a result, Saifullina, without giving too much effort, ran 8 seconds faster than the silver medalist.

The age category is up to 10 years and younger.
