From May 24 to 26, the Central Stadium of Almaty hosted the competitions of the V Summer Spartakiad of the Republic of Kazakhstan in athletics.
15 national teams took part in the competition: East Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Almaty, North Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Mangystau, Zhambyl, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Atyrau, Akmola regions, as well as the cities of Shymkent, Almaty and Nur Sultan. A total of 255 athletes were announced for the Spartakiad: 152 men and 103 women.
According to the results of three days of competition, the team of Almaty won the team competition (9 gold; 9 silver; 7 bronze). The second place was taken by the East Kazakhstan region (7 gold; 6 silver; 5 bronze). The cup for the third place was won by the team of the North Kazakhstan region (7 gold; 3 silver; 7 bronze).
