The Kazakhstan Indoor Athletics Cup started today in the walls of the arena named after Olympic champion Olga Rypakova.
Recall that the Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held in three stages: the first (January 10-11), the second (16.02-17.02) and the third (22.02-23.02). On the first competitive day of the first stage, athletes from East Kazakhstan region managed to get five medals, four of which belong to the female half.
Alexey Ponomarev became the only guy from East Kazakhstan Region who rose to the podium. The athlete became the second in the long jump with a result of 6.92 m. To be honest, to be among the winners in this men’s competition, it was necessary to try very hard. Fourteen jumpers from different parts of Kazakhstan competed with Ponomarev.
Among the girls, Olga Khizhnyakova in the shot put and Alexandra Krivitskaya in the high jump became silver medalists. Khizhnyakova became the second among the six participants with a result of 11.91 m, losing to Ekaterina Nesterova from Karaganda 1.7 m. Krivitskaya, on the other hand, lost in the high jump to her family compatriot Dubovitskaya – 8 cm.
And finally, our girls won two gold medals in the 400 m and high jump. Elina Mikhina and Nadezhda Dubovitskaya became the best in their disciplines again. In fact, athletics fans have long been accustomed to the fact that it is in these competitions that athletes from East Kazakhstan Region take the leading positions over and over again. But this does not mean that watching our girls fight is not at all interesting, on the contrary, everyone is looking forward to what our athletes will demonstrate this time.
