
The final heat of the 4×400 meter relay teams started on the final competition day. Joining Mikhina on the Kazakhstan national team, which ran in the fifth lane, were Yulia Rakhmanova, Alexandra Romanova, and Anastasia Kudinova.
Mikhina ran the opening leg and set a good pace for the entire team, which managed to finish the race with the third-best result, trailing only the teams from China and India.
The only gold medal for the national team was brought by Victoria Zyabkina, who won the 200m sprint with an outstanding result of 23.09 seconds. This time allowed Victoria to also secure an Olympic quota, which will be the third for the country. Earlier, berths for Rio de Janeiro 2016 were earned by marathon runner Gulzhanat Zhanatbek and Olga Rypakova.
