Kazakhstan is the first country to organize competitions of this level among the CIS countries. About 100 athletes took part in it.
The tournament was officially opened by the minister of Culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Oralov and the president of the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Danial Akhmetov.
“Athletes from fifteen countries have arrived in Astana to participate in the Astana Silver Grand Prix Meeting, which is being held for the first time today. The Republic of Kazakhstan this year, together with the USA, Germany, France, Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, is part of the organizers of the silver level of the lightweight series”, – said the president of the Federation Danial Akhmetov.
This tournament gives a great impetus to the development of domestic athletics and increases competition among athletes.
“Today’s world competitions are attended by athletes from 15 countries of the world. In my opinion, this is not just a holiday of athletics, but an event that symbolizes cooperation between countries in general,” minister Askhat Oralov said.
The participants of the tournament determined the best in 10 types of athletics.
The competition began with the men’s hurdles 60 meters race. In this race, Cuban Rogers Iribarn (result 7.62 SEC.) won, ahead of our compatriot David Efremov (7.65 SEC.) only hundredths of a second.
Recall that within the framework of the tournament, David Efremov broke the record of Kazakhstan with the result of 7.62 seconds. in the preliminary race.
In the men’s 400-meter race, our compatriot Mikhail Litvin took 1st place with a result of 46.41 SEC., Andrey Sokolov with the result of 46.74 seconds. – 2nd place, Brazilian Alexander Russo with a result of 47.70 SEC. the third crossed the finish line.
Among the women who ran 60 meters, Olga Safronova (7.30 SEC.) To the athlete from Portugal Arialis Gandulla (7.18 SEC.) and crossed the second finish line. In third place is the Austrian Magdalena Linder (7.43 SEC.).
In the women’s long jump, the Athlete from Uzbekistan Daria Reznichenko won with a result of 6 m. 32 cm. Anastasia Rypakova took 2nd place with a result of 5 M. 89 cm, Alina Chistyakova took 3rd place with a result of 5 m.84 cm.
In the men’s 800 meters, Marino Bludek from Croatia (1:48.23), Nicolas Kiplangat from Kenya took 2nd place with a result of 1:48.31, and Jean Vukovic from Slovenia (1: 48.72) took third place.
In the 1500 meters, Jarinter MWASYA (Kenya) took 1st place with a result of 4:14.26, Hirut Meshesha (Ethiopia) took 2nd place with a result of 4:14.40, Camila Gomez (Portugal) took 3rd place with a result of 4:26.63.
One of the most spectacular types of tournament was the women’s high jump. As a result, our compatriots took the 3rd place. Results:

Christina Ovchinnikova (189 cm.)- II place
Elizabeth Matveeva (189 cm.)- III place.
Among women at a distance of 400 meters, I place was taken by Elina Mikhina (55.14), II place was taken by Alexandra Zalyubovskaya (55.28), III place was taken by Kristina Kondrashova (55.87).
American Michael Rogers won the men’s 60-meter race. He ran this distance in 6.664 seconds. The second place was taken by the American athlete Jan Kemp (6.665), separating the athletes by a thousandth of a second. Portuguese Frederico Curvelo finished the triple with a result of 6.75.
In the men’s 3000 meters, Ali Abdilman (7: 52.43) (Ethiopia) took gold. Alexander George from Great Britain (8:07.55) won silver, and Alexey Gusarov (8:27.10) won bronze.
