The long-awaited Asian Athletics Championships will be held in Bhubaneswar from the sixth to the ninth of July. About 800 athletes from 45 countries came to hot India to face off. Our athletes have been preparing for these starts for a very long time and hard, and tomorrow they will be able to show their skills on Indian soil.
Among the eighteen athletes representing the Republic of Kazakhstan, there is a female trio from East Kazakhstan: the country’s best javelin thrower Varvara Nazarova, high jumper Nadezhda Dubovitskaya, as well as one of the fastest track and field athletes of the republic Elina Mikhina, who will compete in the 400 m. But among the guys, only one athlete from East Kazakhstan region, the record holder of Kazakhstan in javelin throw, Arthur Gafner, was selected for an exotic country. The most interesting thing is that East Kazakhstan athletes will represent all of the above types alone, which makes their competitions much more responsible!
Varvara Nazarova will perform in the javelin throw on the first day of the competition. Together with our athlete, 12 more girls from China, Iran, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and India will perform. This time, the host country has an advantage over the guests, India is allowed to field three athletes in each discipline, instead of the usual two. And this probably adds to the chances of winning to some extent.
On the same day, 400 m running competitions will be held, in which Ridder runner Alina Mikhina performs. Eighteen participants will take part, including our athlete. Vietnam, Malaysia, Maldives and Tajikistan will be added to the list of countries listed in the paragraph above. It is likely that Elina will also compete in the 4-400m relay together with Merjen Ishanguliyeva, Tatyana Neroznak and Adelina Akhmetova.
The very next day, Nadezhda Dubovitskaya, an athlete from Semey, will compete for the title of the best high jumper, and along with her, twelve more high-rise athletes appear on the list of participants. As the athlete herself says, she knows all the competitors by sight, but Nadezhda is still not quite comfortable performing, because this is her first time at a competition of this level.
– Nadia, do you think you will have to put a lot of effort into this performance to become the best?
– I think that’s enough! To be honest, I can’t even imagine how it will be, because this is the first time I will compete at the Senior Asia!
– Are you very worried?
– A little bit (smiles). I recently injured my back.
– Did this happen in training?
– Yes, I practiced with a barbell.
– How do you feel internally? Are you more worried about the injury or is it more mentally difficult?
– I’m afraid that the pain will not allow you to jump fully!
But we still hope that Nadia will feel better and show a good result.
And finally, the only guy from East Kazakhstan Region, Arthur Gafner, will perform on the final day of the javelin throw competition. More than twenty guys from different countries will compete with our athlete, in addition to the participating countries that were announced above, athletes from countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will compete in the list of javelin throwers.
According to the results of this championship, it will be known who will win a ticket to the World Championship in London, which will be held from August 4 to 13!
