Men’s Long Jump Concludes Day One of the Kazakhstan Winter Athletics Championship
The men’s long jump event took place on February 10 and was the final competition of the first day of the Kazakhstan Winter Athletics Championship in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The victory went to 22-year-old Takhirzhan Kadyrkulov from Akmola Region.
The long jumpers, more than other participants, remembered that the competition is held not only for the athletes themselves but also for the spectators. For those truly competing for medals, the stands encouraged rhythmic applause to help better mobilize themselves for the contest.
For Takhirzhan Kadyrkulov, the winning attempt was his third – 7.47 m. Experienced Konstantin Safronov from Pavlodar took second place in his first start of 2017 with a result of 7.28 m. Third place went to 17-year-old Rasul Ismatov from Almaty – 7.25 m. All three medalists achieved results at the level of the Candidate for Master of Sport standard. Just one centimeter short of a medal was 19-year-old Ivan Solovyov from East Kazakhstan – 7.24 m.
