During a working trip to the East Kazakhstan region, the Head of State got acquainted with the work of the Olga Rypakova athletics center and the regional specialized children's and youth sports school of the Olympic Reserve (SDYUSHOR) in athletics operating on its basis.
Olympic champion Olga Rypakova told the President that all conditions have been created in the center for regular year-round training sessions. Since the opening of the school, all the winter athletics championships of Kazakhstan have been held here. Currently, 713 students train at the center, who regularly take prizes at national and international competitions. In 2023, athletes brought 281 medals to the school's piggy bank.
In addition, Olga Rypakova voiced a number of proposals for the development of athletics in the country. In particular, she considers it important to create a Sports medicine Center in the region, which allows combining training camps for athletes with therapeutic and restorative procedures in the favorable natural environment of Altai.
Since 2015, a tournament for the prizes of Olga Rypakova has been held here. The competitions have been assigned the World Athletics Continental Tour level, which allows athletes to earn points in the world ranking. The famous athlete asked to contribute to raising the status of this tournament to the "silver" level. This requires an upgrade of the arena's coverage, as well as an increase in the prize pool. The Head of State instructed Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duissenova and Akim Ermek Kosherbayev to take this issue under control.
Then the President talked with the athletes. He noted that the state pays special attention to improving the sports infrastructure.
