A representative company consisting of 27 seven people came to the start for the men. Alexey Gusarov from Almaty was the first to cross the finish line, three seconds ahead of Sergey Ershov from the East Kazakhstan region. Gusarov and Ershov are the only ones of all the participants who were able to run out of four minutes. Bibol Serikov from Astana rounded out the top three winners.
The women’s 1,500-meter race could have ended quite dramatically. Ten athletes competed for victory here, so the fight was much tighter. She was in the lead for most of the distance Victoria Ryzhikova is from the North Kazakhstan region, but in the last meters to the finish line, Evgenia Fandyushina from the Pavlodar region began to catch up with her. If the distance turned out to be another 500 meters longer than Fandyushin, she would most likely have overtaken her opponent. But Ryzhikova managed to endure and cross the finish line first. The third place was taken by another athlete from the North Kazakhstan region, Victoria Sergeeva.
