We Run to Remember: Ust-Kamenogorsk to Host a Memorial Run for Rakhymgazy Kosherbayev
On October 11, Ust-Kamenogorsk will host an open run in memory of Rakhymgazy Nurgalievich Kosherbayev, Master of Sport of the USSR in athletics. He is no longer with us, but his students, colleagues and everyone who remembers him are. This run is a chance to come together and say thank you. The race starts at the hydroelectric power plant in the village of Ablaketka and finishes at the Zheltoksan monument on the Alley of Love. The record for this route still belongs to Kosherbayev himself. The distance is 10 kilometers. Runners will compete in age groups, from 15–17 to 70 and older, and there will also be an overall ranking. Winners and prize-winners will receive certificates, medals and commemorative prizes. In the overall ranking, first place wins 50,000 tenge, second place 30,000 and third place 20,000. Age-group winners will receive commemorative medals and prizes from sponsors. Participants will be escorted by traffic police officers and accompanied by a medical worker. The run is organized by the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ust-Kamenogorsk.
