East Kazakhstan claims medals and standards: Day 1 of Kazakhstan U20 Championships

The Kazakhstan U20 Championships have kicked off in Shymkent. On the opening day, the East Kazakhstan team secured podium finishes and achieved qualification standards for major international events. The highlight of the day came from Sofya Kidenko, who won the women’s 400 meters in 55.09 seconds, meeting the qualification standard for the World U20 Championships. Another gold medal was delivered by Konstantin Uteshev in the men’s shot put. His mark of 17.15 meters meets the qualification standard for the Asian Championships. Assan Azamatuly took silver in the men’s long jump with a result of 6.92 meters. Viktoriya Klimantseva earned bronze in the women’s shot put with a throw of 11.74 meters. In the women’s 4×100 meter relay, the East Kazakhstan team (Kamilla Yeliseyeva, Amina Zhaynakova, Nadiya Kerimova, Mariya Cherepanova) finished third in 49.47 seconds. After day one, East Kazakhstan has a full set of medals and a strong position heading into the remaining days of competition.
