Program of XXXIV QOSANOV MEMORIAL August 2–3.2025
On August 2–3, 2025, the traditional Gusman Kosanov tournament — the XXXIV Qosanov Memorial — will take place in the Almaty region. More than 150 athletes from 15 countries will compete for medals, prizes, and ranking points. Gusman Kosanov was the first Kazakh track and field athlete in history to win an Olympic medal. He earned a silver medal as part of the USSR relay team at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. In 1962, at the USSR Championship, he ran the 100 meters in 10.2 seconds. The Qosanov Memorial is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour (Bronze Level). Prize fund: from $25,000Ranking points and a chance to qualify for the World Championships and the Olympic Games! The program includes 32 individual events, 3 relays (including a mixed 4×400), and 100-meter children’s races. Memorial Run in Honor of Rakhymgazy Kosherbayev to Be Held in Ust-Kamenogorsk On August 31, 2025, at 8:00 AM, a memorial run will take place in Ust-Kamenogorsk in honor of Rakhymgazy Nurgaliyevich Kosherbayev — USSR Master of Sport in athletics, legendary coach, and mentor. Route: From the Hydroelectric Power Station (Ablaketka district) to the City Akimat of Ust-Kamenogorsk (17 Permitin Street)Distance: 12 kmRegistration: From 06:00 to 07:45 at the starting point The run will be held in the following age categories:Under 17, 18–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. Winners and runners-up will be awarded certificates, medals, and commemorative prizes. Rakhymgazy Nurgaliyevich was a multiple-time champion of the Kazakh SSR, participant in international competitions (including in Algeria), and dedicated 43 years to the development of sports, training champions of Kazakhstan and the world.
