Olympic Day: “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together” with athletes

Olympic Day: “Faster, Higher, Stronger– Together” with athletes Sports events dedicated to the International Olympic Day have begun in the regions of Kazakhstan.  This holiday is celebrated annually on June 23. The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan dedicates the entire month of June to Olympic values so that as many Kazakhstanis as possible can be active, study Olympic values and get acquainted with new sports. All events will be held under the new slogan of the international Olympic movement “Faster, higher, stronger – together”. Just as the five Olympic rings symbolize the five continents, five Kazakhstani regions will carry a festive relay race, which means the unity of Kazakhstanis in sports.   East Kazakhstan was the first to take the baton of the celebration under the auspices of the National Olympic Committee, where athletics starts among children were held. The sport was also chosen for a reason. The famous Kazakhstani Olga Rypakova, a three-time Olympic medalist, Olympic champion, hails from the East Kazakhstan region. In the Olga Rypakova Athletics Arena, over 60 young athletes competed in the 50 and 200 meter races, long jumps, and other starts. More than 600 children and teenagers are engaged in the Rypakova center under the guidance of 24 trainers – classes are free for them. In March 2021, a table tennis department was opened here in addition to the athletics department. – Our children are very talented. Among those who work with us, there are masters of sports, prize–winners of international competitions, participants of youth world and Asian championships, – said Vladislav Leshin, master of sports, coach of the highest category. – They know what they are striving for: Olympic champion Olga Rypakova trains with us, the children constantly communicate with her. Especially the new ones when they see it, it produces such a “wow” effect. We celebrate Olympic Day traditionally. Only last year, due to quarantine, competitions were not held – but this year they were waiting for the holiday and preparing for it. Of course, we all dream of becoming the same as Olga Rypakova, going to the Olympics,” said participant of the competition Jamila Duanova. – That’s why we train a lot – thanks to those who built this center for us and thanks to our coaches. Congratulations to everyone on the International Olympic Day! The main guest at the starts was Olga Rypakova, the champion of the London 2012 Games, the world champion will soon go to the Olympics in Tokyo.  – It was very nice to talk with the athletes. Despite their youth, they are very purposeful, charged with the Olympic spirit and strive to win,” Olga Rypakova said. – I believe that a wonderful future awaits them, they started their life in sports just when character is being formed – and I can only wish everyone to have the same fortitude, self-confidence, not be afraid to test their capabilities, not be afraid to try new things, believe in success. All children received certificates of participation in the Olympic Day, signed by the head of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach and the President of the National Olympic Committee of the country Timur Kulibayev.  After the east – Ust-Kamenogorsk – the north will enter, and on June 19 a bike ride with the participation of Olympic champion Alexander Vinokurov will be held in Petropavlovsk. In the south, climbing games will be held in Almaty on June 20, in the west, in Aktau on June 21, master classes in boxing and judo will be held. On June 23, the relay race will end in the center of the country – the capital’s Triathlon Park will host a big sports festival with basketball, streetball games, techball competitions and canoeing.  In addition, according to tradition, the NOC of Kazakhstan and athletes will congratulate babies from different parts of the country who were born on this day, and will give them gifts and letters of good wishes.
