Greetings from Kenya!

One of the highlights of the final day of the Championship of Kazakhstan, held at the Central Stadium of Almaty from June 12 to 14, was the performance of young Kenyan stayers – 23-year-old Caroline Chepkoech Kipkirui and 17-year-old Chadrak Kimutai Koech at a distance of 5,000 meters. Having received an invitation to take part in the traditional memorial of Gusman Kosanov (June 24-25), representatives of the country that gave the world many excellent masters of long-distance running arrived in Kazakhstan and, in preparation for the upcoming competitions, tested their strength at the open championship of our republic. The test turned out to be very successful – in both the women’s and men’s races, Kenyan athletes clearly demonstrated their styling talents. Kipkirui and Koech took the lead immediately after the start, maintained a high pace throughout the race and achieved confident victories. As for our athletes, Irina Smolnikova from East Kazakhstan achieved success among women in the absence of Gulzhanat Zhanatbek, who became the best in the 10,000 meters on the opening day of the championship. And for men, the 2017 national champion at a similar distance, Andrei Leimenov, also representing East Kazakhstan Region, came down after two laps, and Mikhail Krasilov (Zhambyl region) took the first place without much struggle. Daryn Konysbayev (Almaty region) – 15.36,71 min. Chadrak Kimutai Koech (Kenya) – 14.17,44 min. At the end of the races, Kipkirui and Koech kept a little stiff, but smiled warmly: – Everything turned out well at the distance, – the athletes noted with one voice. – It was not so hot, and there was no discomfort. We managed to keep our pace and finish well. In general, we like Kazakhstan. We train, we don’t feel any special problems, the people are all friendly. We will prepare for the next competitions! The double success of Maria Ovchinnikova

A 17-year-old representative of the Karaganda region, following the long jump, won the triple jump at the national championship. On June 13, the winners in the men’s and women’s triple jump were determined at the Kazakhstan Athletics Championships in Almaty. For women, she became the champion Maria Ovchinnikova, who won the long jump the day before. In her best attempt, Ovchinnikova flew to the mark of 13.25 meters and became the first. Anna Gorodkova from the South Kazakhstan region lost only five centimeters to Ovchinnikova. Marina Huseynova from Almaty got the third result — 12.08 meters. – In the long jump, my feelings were simply cosmic, I caught the courage and jumped for pleasure. I didn’t think about my rivals, maybe because it’s not my main look, I didn’t think about anything, I just did my job. On the triple jump, I was a little clamped down, my emotions remained at length, so they were a little short on the triple jump. In principle, I am happy with the result in length, I jumped almost according to a personal record, one centimeter was not enough. I would like a slightly better result in the triple, we will try our best. I hope I will achieve a good result at the Kosanov Memorial,” Maria Ovchinnikova said after the award ceremony. The men’s triple jump champion was Roman Valiev with a score of 16.08 meters. Valiev was 17 centimeters ahead of Evgeny Ektov. The third result was achieved by Ivan Solovyov from the East Kazakhstan region. In parallel with the triple jump, high jumpers competed in the neighboring sector. I jumped higher than everyone else Roman Loshkarev from Almaty is 2.16 meters. Vasily Shchastyy from Akmola region won the silver medal – 2.08 meters, and Vyacheslav Gorchakov from South Kazakhstan region stopped at exactly 2 meters. Kazakhstan Athletics Championship. Endurance test. Dmitry Ivanchukov is the national champion in steeplechase

On June 13, four sets of awards in the 800-meter and 3-kilometer steeplechase were awarded at the Kazakhstan Championship in Almaty. In the men’s 800 meters, the winner and the prize-winners showed quite solid results. Sergey Zaikov turned out to be a little faster than Imanmadi Kusmanov and Evgeny Arkhipov and became the champion. The women won Tatiana Neroznak, who overtook Victoria Ryzhikova and Evgenia Fandyushina. The real test of strength for the participants was the 3000-meter steeplechase, or as it is also called steeplechase. In addition to the usual barriers, athletes overcome pits with water. The most enduring among men in this discipline turned out to be Dmitry Ivanchukov from Zhambyl region, who became the champion of Kazakhstan. Islam Amangos from Almaty was ten seconds behind him, and the lag of the third prize-winner Rakhymzhan Kelmanov was almost half a minute. For women, three participants came to the start of this discipline, and all of them managed to finish. I crossed the finish line first Svetlana Saunina, followed by Elizaveta Astafieva and Lyudmila Monina. Kazakhstan Athletics Championship. Almaty, “Central”. June 13th. Running for 800 meters. Men. The shells are flying, but not far

On June 13, on the second day of the national championship in Almaty, representatives of the throwing group played three sets of awards – in the morning program, male hammers found out the relationship, and after lunch, the strongest in discus throwing for women and men became known. In the first of these disciplines, all three places on the podium were taken by representatives of East Kazakhstan, however, the results they showed were quite low. The first was 22-year-old Vladimir Torlopov, who was almost two meters ahead of 25–year-old Oleg Lyubimov and three and a little meters ahead of 20-year-old Alexei Vladimirova. June 13th. Alexey Vladimirov (East Kazakhstan Region) – 46.72 m But in the discus throwers’ dispute, the winners’ results turned out to be higher, but the athletes who became the first to reach their personal records still fell noticeably short. For women, the gold went to the participant of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, 23-year-old Maria Telushkina from Almaty, and for men – to her peer Evgeny Milovatsky from the Mangistau region. A shot putter from the Almaty region confidently won the Kazakhstan Athletics Championship.

On the opening day of the Kazakhstan Athletics Championships in Almaty, the strongest in the shot put for women and men were determined. In men’s competitions, Ivan Ivanov was the undisputed leader in this discipline. Unlike the May Cup of Kazakhstan, Ivanov had more rivals at the national championship, which did not affect his performance in any way. Having pushed the projectile 20 meters exactly in the best attempt, Ivanov became the champion of Kazakhstan. His closest pursuer Damir Kasainov from the East Kazakhstan region was almost five meters behind Ivanov, and bronze medalist Dmitry Zozulya from Kostanay was seven meters behind. – I feel great, everything worked out great for me, good competitions. I was preparing for the championship at home, 20 meters is an excellent result. Last year I had a score of 20.51, so this is my second best result in my career. There were prerequisites already in training that I was ready to show such a result. I pushed, as always, I came out, I didn’t believe what I did, how I did it, the best attempts are not remembered. You just feel it, and only then it lets go, you start to feel tired. Now I will prepare for the Kosanov Memorial, where I definitely need to perform, these are international competitions. Then there will be the Asian Championship and the World University Games,” Ivanov said after his speech. She won the women’s shot put Ekaterina Nesterova from Karaganda region. In the best attempt, she showed a result of 13.32 meters and was ahead Maria Telushkina from Almaty, who, however, specializes more in discus throwing. Asia Rabayeva, a representative of the Mangystau region, took the third place. A total of 13 athletes competed for medals in this discipline. Kazakhstan Athletics Championship. June 12th. Gusarov and Ryzhikova are the champions of Kazakhstan in the 1500 meters

A representative company consisting of 27 seven people came to the start for the men. Alexey Gusarov from Almaty was the first to cross the finish line, three seconds ahead of Sergey Ershov from the East Kazakhstan region. Gusarov and Ershov are the only ones of all the participants who were able to run out of four minutes. Bibol Serikov from Astana rounded out the top three winners. The women’s 1,500-meter race could have ended quite dramatically. Ten athletes competed for victory here, so the fight was much tighter. She was in the lead for most of the distance Victoria Ryzhikova is from the North Kazakhstan region, but in the last meters to the finish line, Evgenia Fandyushina from the Pavlodar region began to catch up with her. If the distance turned out to be another 500 meters longer than Fandyushin, she would most likely have overtaken her opponent. But Ryzhikova managed to endure and cross the finish line first. The third place was taken by another athlete from the North Kazakhstan region, Victoria Sergeeva. Kazakhstan Athletics Championship. June 12th. Almaty, Tsentralny Stadium. Running, 1500 meters. Andrey Kleimenov and Gulzhanat Zhanatbek had no equal in the 10,000 meters

In the final form of the first day of the championship of Kazakhstan – the 10–kilometer run – the participants went to the distance in a motley single company, but with a separate, of course, men’s and women’s standings. The main favorites in the dispute between the representatives of the stronger sex were the experienced Andrey Leimenov from East Kazakhstan and Mikhail Krasilov from Zhambyl region. They stayed side by side for the first third of the race, but gradually the 27-year-old Krasilov began to lag behind his 30-year-old opponent, and by the finish Leimenov’s advantage reached almost a minute. June 12th. The Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Running 10,000 meters. Men: 1. Andrey Leimenov (East Kazakhstan region) – 30.53,0 min. 2. Mikhail Krasilov (Zhambyl region) – 31.52.8 min. 3. Daryn Konysbayev (Almaty region) – 33.12.5 min. For women, the expected competition between the participants of the 2016 Olympics in the marathon Gulzhanat Zhanatbek (Almaty region) and Irina Smolnikova (East Kazakhstan region) lasted even less. Literally 5-6 laps after the start, Zhanatbek began to break away from her main rival, more than a minute and a half ahead of her at the finish. At the same time, it should be noted that both the men’s and women’s races turned out to be far from outstanding in terms of average speed. June 12th. The Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the hammer and spear throwing sectors, the favorites won

In the morning program, where the hammer throwers were arguing, Diana Nusupbekova, a 21-year-old national record holder from Almaty, achieved a tangible advantage over her rivals, sending a projectile in the best attempt at 60.25 meters. June 12th. The Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Hammer throwing. Women: 1. Diana Nusupbekova (Almaty) – 60.25 m 2. Ekaterina Nesterova (Karaganda region) – 50.71 m 3. Victoria Frolova (North Kazakhstan region) – 47.03 m Compared to the winning throw at the Kazakhstan Cup in May (56.19 m) Nusupbekova gained more than four meters, but at the end of the competition she still looked a little upset.: – To be honest, I’m not completely happy with the result, – Diana shared. – Although this is my best shot at official competitions of the season, I still haven’t completely “scattered” yet. In principle, I have already gained a good shape, but today not everything turned out smoothly. During training, it was possible to send a projectile to the area of 62 meters (the record of Kazakhstan set by Nusupbekova last year is 62.50 m – auth.), but now she has made small technical mistakes. The next start will be at the Gusman Kosanov Memorial on June 24-25, where I will try to improve the result. East Kazakhstanis Artur Gafner and Varvara Nazarova achieved success in the men’s and women’s javelin throwing tournaments held after lunch. They also fell short of their best achievements last year (72.77 and 52.76 m, respectively), but the results shown this time were quite enough for them to win confident victories. June 12th. Olga Rypakova showed an excellent result for the start of the season in Rome

The fourth stage of the Diamond League has ended in Rome, where the Olympic Champion of London 2012 showed the best result of the season! Predictably, no other athlete could get into the dispute of the big three Rojas-Ibargun-Rypakov for getting into the top three. Olga Rypakova, unfortunately for us, could not become the current leaders of the competition. After the first attempt, she lost to Catherine Ibarguen from Colombia (14.24 m vs. 14.43 m), and after the second, to Yulimar Rojas. At the same time, it was the second jump that Olga succeeded best, because when she performed it, she “flew away” by 14.64 m. By the way, this is only 14 cm less than her medal result at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016. And considering that Rypakova’s main start will be only in August, our star countryman is already demonstrating excellent readiness with this jump. This jump was not enough to stay in second place. In the second half of the competition, Katerina Ibarguen “jumped out” and in the last attempt made a jump of 14.78 m, but the Olympic Champion in 2016 did not become the winner of the competition either. The laurels of the triumphant went to the Venezuelan athlete Yulimar Rojas, who reached the mark of 14.84 m in the fifth jump. Olga Rypakova’s third place allowed her to score six points in the Diamond League standings and earn $4,000 in prize money. Triple jump. Women (11 participants): 1. Elina Mikhina became the second at the international tournament in memory of Gusman Kosanov in Almaty

However, today will be the second competition day, which can add a positive mood to our fans of this sport. Ridder runner Elina Mikhina has made a great start to the current summer season, performing more than convincingly at the stages of the Asian Grand Prix, twice becoming the first and once finishing second. But in the future, something our countryman stopped getting along with the result. She was very close to running out of 53 seconds, but by the middle of the season, Elina started running at the same speed as at the beginning of the season, again moving away from the cherished time. At the recent Championship of Kazakhstan, they decided to save her altogether, without taking her to the final of the 400 m race, where she still made her way. So we hardly had the right to expect that Mikhina would be able to demonstrate outstanding speed at the Kosanov memorial. The website of the Athletics Federation of Kazakhstan again named the Ridder athlete the favorite to start at the 400 m distance. However, this was done more out of inertia than based on the demonstrated results. And Mikhina was not the first in Almaty. She lost, and quite a lot to the representative of India Puvamma Raju Machettira, running 400 m in 53.63 s. The guest from India was 0.4 seconds faster. Moreover, Elina’s second place was not guaranteed at all. The heroine of our story won only 0.07 s from another representative of India, who took third place, Jisna Mateva. So far, for some reason, Elina cannot find her former speed, which allowed her to show just phenomenal seconds for Kazakhstan. We hope that this season one of the elite athletes of Asia will be able to cope with all the problems, and will appear again in her best condition. GUSMAN KOSANOV MEMORIAL Running 400 m. Women: 1.
