Elina Mikhina finishes sixth at the Asian Grand Prix

Elina Mikhina from Ridder has recently accustomed us to consistently placing among the medalists of major competitions. Over the last month, she has earned two bronze medals, one of which was won at the Asian Championships and the second at the Spartakiad of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, her successful streak of performances was interrupted in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. In the 400 m distance, Mikhina made it into the finalists, but this time she failed to step onto the podium. As a result, she finished sixth with a time of 54.81 seconds. A sort of “sweetener” to this “pill” was the victory in the same final by another representative of Kazakhstan, Yulia Rakhmanova, who turned out to be more than a second faster than Mikhina.

In total, on the first competition day, Kazakhstani athletes secured victories by Rakhmanova, Victoria Zyabkina in the 100 m sprint, Anastasia Pilipenko in the 100 m hurdles (13.25 s), and a “bronze” by Irina Ektova in the triple jump (13.59 m). Notably, Anastasia Soprunova from the East Kazakhstan Region, a participant in the 2012 Olympic Games, did not start in the 100 m hurdles final.
