Kazakhstan Junior Athletics Championship: Results from Ust-Kamenogorsk
Traditionally, the girls’ shot put is one of the first events to award medals. Here, the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR) team secured two medals at once. Yekaterina Nesterova from Karaganda claimed victory, once again facing no significant competition. The remaining podium spots were taken by EKR representatives Varvara Nazarova and Erika Kem.

During the morning program of the first day, four sets of medals were contested. Athletes from Almaty took three out of the four gold medals. The only one to break their dominance was shot putter Yekaterina Nesterova.

5000m Race Walk (Boys): 1. Zamanbek Bababek (Almaty) – 21:52.36.

Pole Vault (Girls): 1. Adel Bekbauova (Almaty) – 3.1m.

60m Sprint: Maria Novosadova (Mangystau Reg., 7.86) and Vyacheslav Zems (Karaganda Reg., 6.88) were the fastest. Zems was the only male athlete to run sub-7 seconds.
400m Run: Lyubov Ushakova from Karaganda (56.77) left her competitors more than two seconds behind. In the men’s race, Yevgeniy Arkhipov brought the EKR team its first gold medal in a tight battle with teammate Vladislav Sutyagin.
1500m Run: Runners from Ridder brought two more medals to the EKR team: Tatyana Druzhina took silver, and Moldir Seitkhanova took bronze. Among the men, Sergey Unzhakov (Ridder) fought hard to secure the silver medal.
Combined Events and Jumps:

Pentathlon: Veta Kharitonova (EKR) finished in third place, winning the high jump discipline along the way.

Heptathlon: The second day started with another gold for EKR. Yerbol Kalenov won the event and achieved the “Candidate for Master of Sports” (CMS) standard. Additionally, Ivan Dmitriev from Semey snatched the bronze medal, beating his rival by just 12 points in the final 1000m run.

The second competition day of the Kazakhstan Junior Athletics Championship concluded with a spectacular display of two national records in this age category.
200m Sprint: Lyubov Ushakova from Karaganda (24.83) provided a true revelation, equaling the national indoor junior record. In the men’s race, a fierce battle between David Efremov and Viktor Ryabov ended in a photo finish. Vladislav Sutyagin brought EKR its only sprint medal of the championship by finishing third.
800m and 3000m Runs: Ridder’s middle-distance school shone again: Tatyana Druzhina took bronze in the 800m, and Sergey Unzhakov secured his second silver of the meet. In the 3000m, Viktoriya Sergeyeva (NKR) dominated like a “terminator,” while EKR’s Moldir Seitkhanova claimed the silver medal.
4x400m Relay: The relays provided the championship’s grand finale. The Karaganda girls’ team set a new Kazakhstan junior record with a time of 3:55.6. However, the men’s relay was the ultimate thriller: the EKR team (Arkhipov, Sutyagin, Unzhakov, Kumarbekov) beat Karaganda by a mere 0.07 seconds, shattering the national junior record by a massive 4 seconds!
Jumps and Hurdles:

60m Hurdles: Vyacheslav Zems (Karaganda) dominated the men’s race (7.95s), while Olesya Mikhailiv won the girls’ event.

High Jump: Nadezhda Dubovitskaya from Semey won gold (1.75m), though she narrowly missed the 1.80m World Championship qualifying mark.

Triple Jump: Ivan Solovyov (EKR) secured victory with a leap of 15.61m, successfully qualifying for the World Junior Championships in Poland.
