100 meters hurdles
Rules
In the 100-meter hurdles, athletes take the start from a low position from the starting pads. The height of the barrier for women is 840 mm. There are 10 barriers at the distance, the distance between which is 8.50 m. As a rule, high-class athletes overcome the distance between the barriers in three steps. It is considered optimal to pass the barriers so as not to touch them and at the same time not to slow down.
History
The first official 100-meter hurdles race was held in 1922. The women’s short hurdle sprint was included in the Olympic Games program in 1932
Interesting facts
From 1932 to 1968, the women’s Olympic Games program had a distance of 80 meters
