Results of the XXXIV Gusman Kosanov Memorial Tournament

The XXXIV Gusman Kosanov Memorial, one of the most prestigious international athletics tournaments in Central Asia, took place on August 2–3 in Almaty. The competition, which annually brings together the strongest athletes in the region, once again became an arena for brilliant performances by Kazakhstani athletes, including representatives of the East Kazakhstan region. Nadezhda Dubovitskaya won gold in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.84 meters. The bronze medalists were Ivan Ivanov in the shot put with a result of 19.12 meters, Elnor Mukhitdinov in the 400-meter run (47.50), and Igor Khrunin, who finished third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:55.18. On the second day of the competition, Yulia Bashmanova came first in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 13.73 seconds. In the javelin throw, Artur Gafner took second place, throwing the javelin 72.72 meters. Igor Khrunin was again among the medalists, finishing third in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:30.63. One of the highlights of the second day was the victory of the Kazakhstan team in the 4×400-meter mixed relay. The team was represented by Elnor Mukhitdinov and Andrey Sokolov from East Kazakhstan Region, Alexandra Zalyubovskaya from Pavlodar, and Adelina Zems from Karaganda Region. The relay quartet finished confidently with a time of 3:25.65. The 34th Gusman Kosanov Memorial, one of the most prestigious international athletics tournaments in Central Asia, took place on August 2–3 in Almaty. The competition, which annually brings together the region’s strongest athletes, once again became an arena for outstanding performances by Kazakhstani athletes, including representatives of the East. The Kosanov Memorial not only preserves sporting continuity, but also provides participants with the opportunity to earn important ranking points ahead of the World Championships, which will be held in Japan in September this year. Program of XXXIV QOSANOV MEMORIAL August 2–3.2025

On August 2–3, 2025, the traditional Gusman Kosanov tournament — the XXXIV Qosanov Memorial — will take place in the Almaty region. More than 150 athletes from 15 countries will compete for medals, prizes, and ranking points. Gusman Kosanov was the first Kazakh track and field athlete in history to win an Olympic medal. He earned a silver medal as part of the USSR relay team at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. In 1962, at the USSR Championship, he ran the 100 meters in 10.2 seconds. The Qosanov Memorial is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour (Bronze Level). Prize fund: from $25,000Ranking points and a chance to qualify for the World Championships and the Olympic Games! The program includes 32 individual events, 3 relays (including a mixed 4×400), and 100-meter children’s races. Memorial Run in Honor of Rakhymgazy Kosherbayev to Be Held in Ust-Kamenogorsk On August 31, 2025, at 8:00 AM, a memorial run will take place in Ust-Kamenogorsk in honor of Rakhymgazy Nurgaliyevich Kosherbayev — USSR Master of Sport in athletics, legendary coach, and mentor. Championships of RK among Youth Sports schools U18 and U16

From July 17 to July 19, the athletics championships of the Republic of Kazakhstan among children’s and youth sports schools were held at the stadium of the Olympic Training Center in the Almaty region. The competition was attended by boys and girls aged 17-18, as well as boys and girls aged 15-16. Traditionally, the competition lasted for three days, from Thursday to Saturday. This time, a distinctive feature of the tournament was the participation of not only the national teams of the regions, but also teams representing sports schools. Results of the Republic of Kazakhstan Athletics Championship (July 10–12, 2025) One of the main highlights of the championship was the women’s javelin throw sector, where the favorite was the multiple-time national champion Varvara Nazarova from East Kazakhstan. She confidently claimed first place with a result of 47.12 meters.Bronze went to 20-year-old Natalia Sokolova (42.20 m), who recently won the National Youth Games with a personal best of 47.25 meters. Mikhail Litvin became the national champion in the 400 meters with a time of 47.71 seconds.Silver was claimed by Elnor Mukhitdinov (48.40), and bronze by Andrey Sokolov (48.78). In the women’s 400 meters, Sofia Kidenko (born 2007) stood out — she earned silver with a time of 56.26.In the 1500 meters, bronze went to Igor Khrunin with a time of 4:00.51.In the men’s long jump, 17-year-old Asan Azamatuly from East Kazakhstan impressed with a 7.24-meter leap. In the men’s hammer throw, the entire podium was taken by athletes from East Kazakhstan.First place went to 18-year-old Aldiyar Kairollaev with a result of 47.62 meters, completing all six attempts successfully.Second was Maxim Torlopov (45.31 m), and third — Alexey Vladimirov (45.28 m).
