From 30 June to 1 July, the 35th Gusman Kosanov Memorial Athletics Meeting was held in Shymkent. Athletes from twelve countries took part in the competition: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Armenia, Ukraine, and Egypt.
Among the participants were athletes representing the East Kazakhstan Region, who delivered strong performances on the track and in the field events.
Yefim Tarasov won the men’s 400 metres with a time of 47.43 seconds. In the same event, Elnor Mukhitdinov claimed the bronze medal in 47.52 seconds.
In the men’s 1,500 metres, Igor Khrunin finished third with a time of 3:48.03.
In the shot put, Ivan Ivanov earned the bronze medal with a throw of 18.67 metres.
The 4×100 metres relay team of Ivan Teterin, Almat Tulebayev, Damir Sutzhanov, and Ruslan Kurmanaliyev finished second in 41.38 seconds. Another Kazakh quartet consisting of Zakhar Levitskiy, Aleksandr Bezrukov, Yerasyl Murzamukhambetov, and Maksim Mironov placed third with a time of 41.92 seconds.
In the women’s events, Arina Gladysheva took third place in the 5,000 metres with a time of 17:42.91, while Anastasiya Rypakova finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.91 metres.
