The XXXV Gusman Kosanov Memorial has officially opened in Shymkent, and on the very first day athletes from East Kazakhstan Region added six medals to the team’s tally.
In the men’s 400 metres, two East Kazakhstan athletes reached the podium. Yefim Tarasov claimed the gold medal with a time of 47.43 seconds, while Elnor Mukhitdinov took bronze in 47.52.
In the women’s long jump, Anastasia Rypakova won the silver medal with a leap of 5.91 metres.
In the men’s 4×100-metre relay, Ivan Teterin competed as a member of Kazakhstan’s first national team. Together with his teammates, he finished second in 41.38 seconds. Yerasyl Murzamukhametov finished third as part of the 4×100 m relay team.-
In the men’s shot put, Ivan Ivanov secured the bronze medal with a throw of 18.67 metres.
Igor Khrunin also earned a bronze medal in the men’s 1,500 metres, finishing in 3:48.03. In addition, he achieved the qualifying standard for the title of Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, marking an important personal milestone.
